Re: iLife Discussion iTunes Toolbar

While I will agree that no OS is perfect, I do feel that you are nit picking a little. There are many things that bother you that I would lament the loss of. Take the iTunes toolbar for example. I like the way iTunes is set up. For me there is no reason to have all of the app's buttons jammed up at the top. The current set up provides an aesthetically pleasing look. The functions I need most are first and foremost obvious at the top left, while everything else less commonly used or changed is subtly laid out at the bottom.

There are improvements and fixes that are required. Of course little annoying glitches and inconsistencies should be addressed. However, some issues may just be a result of opinion. I love the fact that the zoom button switches iTunes to a mini player, while obviously you do not. You feel the mini player widget better serves your purposes while I never touch the thing. My point is that somewhere along the line, while these fixes are being made lines have to be drawn. Is everything you pointed out a problem, or are some you personal preference? I know that if Apple followed your suggestions we would end up with an OS that I would probably like using less and less each day. However, the situation can be easily reversed. The difficult job for Apple is not fixing these little quirks, it is ensuring that they do it in a way that keeps most Mac users happy. The distinction between actual and perceived problems can be a fine one and it is Apple's job to weed through it all.

At least one thing is certain. Regardless of its minor shortcomings, OS X is a damn fine system and a joy to use. The same can not be said about other platforms. Of course that isn't a fact; that is just my opinion.
